This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use Venn.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Venn App (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Venn App mobile application (“App”). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1) What we collect
We collect information in the following categories (some may not apply depending on your features):
A. Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, username, password (stored hashed), profile preferences
- Support requests: messages you send us, and any attachments you include
- Feedback: feature requests, survey responses (if any)
B. Information from your device and your use of the App
- Usage data: screens viewed, features used, clicks/taps, session duration, referral/attribution data
- Device data: device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, diagnostic data
- Identifiers: device identifiers and/or advertising identifiers (only if you use them)
C. Location and travel-time related data
Depending on your settings and permissions, we may process:
- Precise location (GPS) or approximate location (network-based)
- Locations you search for or select (start/end points, meeting areas)
- Time and travel preferences (mode of transport, departure/arrival preferences, accessibility settings)
D. Payment data
If you subscribe via the App Store, payments are handled by Apple. We receive limited information such as subscription status, product identifier, and renewal dates. We do not receive your full payment card number.
2) How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide core features (compute and display time-based accessibility, generate suggested meeting areas, save preferences)
- Improve and maintain the App (debugging, performance, feature development)
- Provide customer support and respond to requests
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
- If enabled: send service messages (for example, important updates)
- If you opt in: send marketing communications (you can opt out anytime)
3) Legal bases (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)
Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract: to deliver the App’s functionality you request (for example, calculating routes and time-based results)
- Legitimate interests: to improve, secure, and operate the App (for example, analytics, fraud prevention), balanced against your rights
- Consent: for optional features such as precise location (depending on your device permissions), notifications, and marketing (where required)
- Legal obligation: where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests
You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings or the App (where available). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.
4) How we share information
We may share information with:
A. Service providers (processors)
Companies that help us run the App, such as:
- Hosting and infrastructure
- Mapping, routing, travel-time, and place search providers
- Analytics and crash reporting
- Authentication providers (if used)
- Customer support tools (if used)
We require service providers to protect data and use it only to provide services to us.
Our providers include:
- Mapping/routing: Google
- Travel-time/transit data: TravelTime
- Hosting: Hostinger
B. Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect rights, safety, and security of Venn, our users, or others.
C. Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, due diligence, reorganisation, or sale of assets, information may be shared as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
D. We do not sell personal data
We do not sell your personal data in the ordinary meaning of “sell”. We reserve the use of data for marketing activities.
5) International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries outside the UK/EU.
6) Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described:
- Account data: while your account is active, and for a reasonable period after deletion to handle disputes, security, and legal obligations
- Location/search data: for as long as needed to provide features, and then either deleted or de-identified, unless you choose to save places/history
- Logs and diagnostics: typically retained for a limited period
- Support communications: retained as needed to resolve your issue and meet recordkeeping needs
7) Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, such as encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege permissions. No system is 100 percent secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8) Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- access your data
- correct inaccurate data
- delete your data
- object to processing or request restriction
- data portability
- withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)
How to exercise rights
Email osama@vennapp.com. We may request verification before acting.
Location and permissions
You can control location access in your device settings. You can also reset advertising identifiers and manage tracking permissions in iOS settings.
9) Children
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
10) Cookies and similar technologies
If the App uses SDKs that collect identifiers or similar technologies (for example, analytics SDKs), those tools may set or access identifiers on your device.
11) Complaints
If you are in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). You can also contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
If you are in the EEA, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
12) Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy. If changes are material, we will provide notice in the App or by other appropriate means. The “Effective date” shows when it was last updated.
